Board & Staff

The SRA is governed by a Board of Directors who are elected at our Annual General Meeting.
These volunteers spend countless hours promoting the sport of rowing in our province and across the country.
You can be part of this team by becoming a member of the Saskatchewan Rowing Association or a member club.

President: Bryan Hillis
Bryan is r
etired and Professor Emeritus from Luther College and the University of Regina, Bryan has been on the SRA board two years.  He is a former Director on the SaskSport and Sask Lotteries Boards, among others.  Having learned to row in Regina in 1979, and being a member of the Regina Rowing Club most of the years since then, he is happy for the opportunity to give back to rowing in Saskatchewan by being a Director with SRA.

Chad is a pa
st rower, past coach, volunteer and parent of rowers. He has deep love for the sport and is passionate about developing good people through sport, and keeping it fun.

Treasurer: Amanda Billesberger
Amanda is a current member of the Saskatoon Rowing Club where she currently trains with their Competitive Masters team and she also serves on the Saskatoon Rowing Club's board as a Member at Large.  Amanda is a Concept2 certified indoor rowing coach and has recently completed her RCA Learn to Row coaching certification, and owns a bookkeeping business serving clients in Saskatoon and the surrounding areas.

Officials Committee Chair: Sheila Leach
​Sheila has been a volunteer with multisports, rowing and others for more than 30 years. She is a certified Chief Umpire for Rowing and is passionate about growing the capacity of rowing in Saskatchewan and across the country. She is the Lead of the Umpire Training program in Saskatchewan.

High Performance Committee chair: Michelle Lopez, ​BSc,  Personal Trainer
Michelle is President of Lloydminster Rowing Club and has served 5 years on the SRA Board. She enjoys fitness and being active outdoors.  Rowing has accomplished this for her whole family and is a sport their whole family can do together.  Youth sport is a passion of hers and rowing is a great sport for all athletes to cross over and try!

Development Committee Chair: Rikia Trischuk, Saskatoon
Rikia has been a member of the SRA Board since 2020 serving as VP of Development for two years and is now a member of the High Performance committee. She is a Occupational Therapist in Saskatoon. She is a member of the Saskatoon Rowing club and a former rower with Temple University.

Member at Large: Ashleigh Ringdal, Prince Albert Rowing Club
I live in Prince Albert, where I work in the Agriculture industry. With my free time, I enjoy being active outdoors. In 2020, I was first introduced to rowing at a LTR event, and am now helping to grow the PADRC. I am looking forward to continuing to get more involved with the SRA.

​Prince Albert Drifters Rowing Club Rep: Tanja Tabel
Tanja is the m
other of 2 teenage daughters, wife, energy worker, business partner/owner, & operator...musher, and dogsledding guide. She has been on the board for the Canadian Challenge Sled Dog Race for 4 years. She is the President, a coach & rower of the Prince Albert Drifters Rowing Club since 2000. She started rowing in Saskatoon in the mid 1980's as a junior and competitive rower, then later moved into recreational rowing. She has been on the SRA Board on & off for several years, and am focusing on expanding rowing in the Prince Albert area.

Regina Rowing Club Rep: Sarah Cooke, Regina Rowing Club
Sarah has been involved with rowing since she was a teenager as a rower, a parent to rowers, a volunteer and a board member of both the Regina Rowing Club and now the Saskatchewan Rowing Association.  Sarah is passionate about promoting health and sport for life with her involvement with rowing, her work at the Queen City United Soccer Club, and giving sports nutrition talks to teams. ​

I have been part of rowing communities in BC and SK for over 10 years - being on the water is my happy place! I am a social worker with a focus on supporting those living with disabilities. I identify as a queer, neurodiverse, woman (she/her) and dog mom!

High Performance Committee
​

A robust high performance system is of utmost importance to the overall mission of Saskatchewan Rowing to develop and deliver programs designed to achieve national and international excellence in rowing. 

​The Committee provides advice and support to the VP of High Performance in developing high performance plans, policies and selection criteria. The Committee makes recommendations and reports to the Board of Directors through the VP of High Performance. 
Development Committee

The Development committee is tasked with developing the Associations plan for new club development, membership development and programs related to under represented populations. 

The committee takes input from the clubs and membership to determine where support is needed to enhance membership. The committee makes recommendations to the Directors through the VP of Development.
Programs Committee

Ensuring that the Province has trained and certified coaches and officials is the task of this committee. Working closely with the clubs and High Performance coaching team, the committee will set the goals for ensuring the province can host regattas and training opportunities through the entire year.

Officials training is offered on a regular basis through the provincial body. 

The committee makes recommendations to the Directors through the VP of Programs.
